Blackfriars Circus
Situated in Zone 1 London, Blackfriars Circus consists of 336 apartments and 24 commercial spaces in Southwark; close to London Waterloo Station and Blackfriars Bridge. Logistical Building Services (Electrical) was awarded both the Mechanical and Electrical Contract for this Barratt Homes project; including the installation of an Energy Centre in the basement car park. Featuring a 27 storey apartment tower, with a private hire roof event space for residents, this was a diverse and large-scale project for both teams.
Mechanical
Working to three specifications, our Mechanical Team installed:
- Bathrooms and shower rooms, including a fully accessible bathroom.
- Soils, wastes and drainage.
- Centralised District Heating and Cooling Systems.
- Energy Centre and CHP for adoption by EON.
- Water Tank Room with four Tanks and five Booster Sets; inclusive of a Water Harvesting System.
- Full MVHR System, including NOX Filters as required.
- Underfloor Heating or Radiators for the different specifications.
Electrical
Our Electrical Team provided the following installations:
- Interior and Exterior Lighting, including Air Traffic Control Lighting on Conquest Tower.
- Two Electrical Supplies from two Substations and individual LV Panels, entwined through the basement car park.
- Safety systems including CCTV, Fire Alarm and Door Entry Systems.
- Electrical Car Charging Points in the basement car park.
Following the completion of this project in 2018, Logistical Building Services (Electrical) was awarded Innovative and Cooperative Sub-Contractor for 2018 by Barratt Homes.
The Energy Centre at Blackfriars Circus
The Energy Centre in the basement car park of Blackfriars Circus has been our largest to date. Providing heating and hot water to 360 units, this Energy Centre was pre-fabricated off site before being delivered, craned into position, installed in its final location and commissioned.
We have found that the pre-fabrication of these structures has significantly reduced the installation time on site and improves the quality of the final installation.
